Samford Football Hosts Annual Media Day/Media PPK Contest

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The Samford football program held its annual preseason media day and media Punt, Pass, Kick Contest on Thursday at Pete Hanna Stadium and Sullivan-Cooney Family Field House.

Head coach of Samford Chris Hatcherplayer Nick Scalzo, Quincy Crittendon, Chris Noble And Noah Martinas well as offensive coordinator Ricky Tuner and defensive coordinator Adam Braithwaite met with the media to preview the upcoming season. A full video of each interview is embedded below.

Following the interviews, media representatives participated in the annual Media Punt, Pass, Kick contest. Each competitor had three attempts at punting, passing and kicking in the first round, with the top two advancing to the finals. Ryan Hennessy of NBC 13 and Damian Mitchell of JOX made it to the finals.

In the finals, Hennessy defeated Mitchell by a score of 140-130 to win the title, which earned him a Samford football signed by Hatcher. You can also find a video summary of the competition below.

Samford opens the 2024 season with a game against West Georgia on August 31 at 5 p.m. CT in Carrollton, Georgia. Samford’s first home game will be against Alabama State on September 14 at 6 p.m. at Pete Hanna Stadium. Fans can purchase season tickets at the following link: BUY TICKETS.
