Let’s Build A Dungeon is a management game where you run a development studio and design your own subscription MMO

The management game’s flow chart is said to look like this: zoo, then theme park, then hospital, then school. Apparently no one told that to Springloaded Software, who are following up their 2021 tycoon game Let’s Build A Zoo with a game about building an MMO.

Let’s Build A Dungeon combines the business aspects of Game Dev Tycoon with a more hands-on approach to developing the game for your company. You can find a first trailer below.

In addition to hiring designers, programmers, and testers to staff their development studio, players must also construct buildings and trees to populate the fantasy game within the game, fill dungeons with traps and chests to keep virtual players busy and happy, and pay their monthly subscription.

I think the ultimate management game anecdote is making the chips saltier in the theme park so customers would buy more soda – whether that was actually possible in the game or not – and I hope something similar applies to Let’s Build A Dungeon. I want the final dungeon boss to be incredibly difficult to defeat so that players never feel like they’ve really finished the game until we’ve added a new dungeon with a new difficult boss and can then go back and weaken the old one.

Apparently you can test your roleplay to experience it like a real player, and there’s enough of a toolset here that you can also create your own story, dialogue, and cutscenes, and then share your creation with other real players to try out. Wild.

You can find more screenshots of Let’s Build A Dungeon on Steam, and there’s also a beta version coming soon that you can sign up for.
