Sziget Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary with an unforgettable 2024 edition

From August 7th to 12th, the 30th edition of Sziget Festival took place in the iconic location of Budapest. There were more than 1,000 shows on 50 stages on the island of Óbuda, including some of the hottest international talent such as Kylie, Stormzy, Sam Smith, Halsey, Fred again.., RAYE, Janelle Monáe, Skrillex, Overmono, Nia Archives, Tom Odell, Becky Hill, Fontaines DC and others.

Over the last three decades Sziget and their audience have created an international community known worldwide as The Island of Freedom. Under this name, the festival becomes a paradise of love, acceptance and freedom year after year, where every visitor finds a safe place to be themselves.

Thousands of Szitizens from over 100 countries attended the 2024 edition to take part in the ultimate cultural discovery journey as part of the extensive six-day festival programme, offering a wide range of genres, theatre, comedy, art, insightful panels, art workshops and more.

Day 1 | Wednesday August 7th – Kylie, FISHER, Tom Odell, Marc Rebillet, L’Impératrice, Richie Hawtin, Barry Can’t Swim, Loco Dice, Joost

The first day of Budapest 2024 kicked off with an electrifying lineup that set the tone for an epic week. Pop icon Kylie Minogue stole the show with a set full of timeless hits, including a heartwarming moment when she invited a lifelong fan up on stage for a hug, creating a memory that will last forever.

FISHERMAN brought party atmosphere with his rousing house beats, while Tom OdellThe soulful piano ballads offered a melodic counterpoint. Marc RebilletThe improvised madness made the crowd laugh and The Empress delivered their typical French disco grooves. Richie Hawtin And Loco Dice made the techno fans dance until the early hours of the morning, with Barry can’t swim And Joost A day full of varied and dynamic performances is rounded off.

Day 2 | Thursday, August 8th – Halsey, Aurora, Enkel, Honey Dijon, ANOTR, MEUTE, Joker Out, Nova Twins, DAGNY, Archie Hamilton

On the second day the Sziget The stages shine with an eclectic mix of genres and styles. Halsey was the headliner of the evening and captivated the audience with her powerful vocals and genre-spanning sound.

Aurora enchants with her ethereal presence and haunting melodies and takes festival visitors to another world. grandson caused an explosion of energy with his politically charged rock anthems, while Honey DijonThe house beats kept the crowd dancing non-stop. ANOTR‘s fresh approach to electronic music and PACKThe unique techno marching band performance kept everyone on their toes.

Joker out And Nova Twins brought raw rock energy, DAGNYThe pop hooks were infectious and Archie Hamilton ended the evening with a set that kept the party going late into the night.

Day 3 | Friday August 9th – Liam Gallagher, Stormzy, Yves Tumor, Teezo Touchdown, Job Jobse, Eris Drew & Octo Octa

Friday was all about energy and emotions. Liam Gallagher‘s return to the stage where he delivered anthems that defined a generation. Stormzy took things to another level and released his new song with Tracking and statusalongside old-school classics like ‘Keep your mouth shut‘ and emotional pieces like ‘The head is heavy“, which made the crowd roar.

Yves TumorThe cross-genre performance was almost supernatural, while Teezo TouchdownThe punk rap vibes brought a fresh touch. Job Jobs and the dynamic duo of Eris Drew and Octo Octo ensured that the dance tents were continuously filled with firecrackers.

Day 4 | Saturday August 10th – Bebe Rexha, Louis Tomlinson, MØ, Neil Frances, Martin Garrix, Louis Tomlinson, Zoe Wees, Len Faki, P Money, Ghetto Funk Collective

On Saturday, pop, electronic music and dance music came together in a spectacular way. Louis Tomlinson delivered a nostalgic set with a series of One direction Classic, much to the delight of his fans. Bebe Rexha kept the energy high with her chart-topping hits, while Everyone sang along to the indie pop anthems.

Martin GarrixThe headlining performance was a visual and aural spectacle, complete with massive drops and pyrotechnics. Zoe Wees‘ powerful voice echoed across the island, and Neil FrancesThe relaxed atmosphere was perfect for a summer evening. Len Faki brought the techno underground to the fore, while P Money And Ghetto Funk Collective kept things dark and raw.

Day 5 | Sunday, August 11th – Janelle Monáe, Becky Hill, Sam Smith, Fontaines DC, Kojaque, Crystal Fighters, Sven Väth, Editors, Modeselektor

As the festival came to a close, Sunday offered some of the most memorable moments of the week. Janelle Monaewas a celebration of individuality and freedom, culminating in their performance of ‘Let me feel“ and a special moment when she brought a lucky fan on stage to dance next to her.

Sam SmithThey showcased their vocal skills and moved the audience with a series of their biggest hits. Fontaines DC have released new tracks from their latest album, sending their loyal fans into ecstasy. Becky HillThe energetic performance got the crowd dancing while KojaqueThe sharp lyricism formed a moving counterpoint. Crystal Fighter, editorAnd Fashion selector kept the energy high on various stages, with Sven Väth and ended the night with his legendary techno beats.

Day 6 | Monday, August 12th – Fred again… Skrillex, RAYE, Four Tet, Big Thief, Overmono, Nia Archives, Yard Act

The last day of Budapest 2024 was a spectacular farewell to a week of incredible music. RAYE captivated the crowd with her soulful voice and powerful presence, followed by Skrillex with a high-octane performance that was nothing short of explosive and pushed the energy levels up.

Fred again… delivered an emotional set that blurred the lines between live performance and DJing, with his biggest hits and latest Joy Orbison Arrangement that got the festival-goers dancing.

On Revolut phase, Four Tet was accompanied by Skrillex for an incredible set of complex electronic soundscapes that had festival-goers dancing until the early hours. The final touch of the night was the bass-heavy set of the electronic duo Supermono and the Queen of the Jungle in Great Britain, Nia Archives.
