8-year-old from Minnesota beats Amazon driver thief with baseball bat

A heroic eight-year-old armed with a baseball bat came to the rescue when her father was attacked and robbed.

The unbelievable incident was captured on surveillance cameras at Big Discount Liquors in Maplewood. The footage shows a man dressed in the uniform of an Amazon delivery driver attempting to rob the cashier with a gun.

According to WCCO, the cashier was Leo, the store manager, and as Leo was closing up the store around 9:30 p.m. last Saturday, the man came in, put the gun on the counter and demanded all the money from the register.

Leo wasn’t the only one behind the register, his 8-year-old daughter was with him as well. As the thief went behind the register with the gun, Leo told WCCO, “I’m a father. I’m not going to let this happen.”

The surveillance camera footage shows Leo hitting the man and bringing him to the ground. While he is wrestling with the burglar, Leo’s daughter intervenes in the fight, armed with a baseball bat.

The heroic kid is seen hitting the guy a few times before running away. The suspect, 37-year-old Conchobhar Morrell of St. Paul, has been charged with attempted first-degree aggravated robbery and will appear in court again tomorrow in Ramsay County.

Amazon told WCCO that the suspect was a driver for a third-party delivery service and was being fired. Morrell has a previous conviction for aggravated robbery in 2004.

I’m just glad Leo and his daughter are OK, but what a traumatic situation for them both. I think she deserves an ice cream for life with this help!
