St. Pete is a city for art lovers. We live on the famous Glass Coast and are a proverbial open-air art gallery thanks to our amazing SHINE Mural Festival. Every September, our beloved local museums open their doors to residents for free.

This year, Free Museum Day is September 21. Here’s what each local cultural gem has to offer:

The Dali Museum – 1 Dali Boulevard

  • FREE gallery admission for Pinellas County. The Dalí Alive 360° experience is not included – this can be purchased for $15.
  • Online reservations are strongly recommended. Walk-ins are possible subject to availability.
  • Upon arrival, guests must present their pre-reserved ticket and Pinellas County ID for entry.

TThe Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg – 255 Beach Dr NE

  • Free museum admission for Pinellas County residents with a valid ID

The James Museum – 150 Central Avenue

  • Reserve your time slot online in advance as soon as registration is possible.
  • A limited number of tickets will be available at the box office on the day of the event. However, admission cannot be guaranteed without a reservation.

Imagine Museum – 1901 Central Avenue

  • Timed entry: To ensure a pleasant experience, entry is via timed tickets. Explore our first floor exhibitions with stunning displays and installations.
  • Retail Specials: Be sure to visit our retail store to discover exclusive items and souvenirs to commemorate this special day..
  • Refreshments: Waiting in line won’t be a problem! Enjoy our cool snacks for purchase and complimentary water to keep you hydrated and energized.

Arts Alive/Free Museum Day is hosted by the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, the City of St. Petersburg, and participating cultural organizations based on the Smithsonian’s national Free Museum Day.
