PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Today is the last completely dry day here in Pittsburgh for a while. Today will also be the hottest day of the week.

Highs in Pittsburgh today are expected to be 30 degrees. Lows in the morning should be 15 degrees. Midday temperatures will be just over 27 degrees. The day will start with clear skies, then clouds will move in before midday. I’m calling the afternoon mostly cloudy.
This afternoon the wind will be from the southeast at about 5 miles per hour.
Although the chance of rain could arrive as early as Friday morning, most will have to wait until Friday afternoon before seeing the first rain. There will be scattered rain on Friday, with the highest chance of rain occurring after 6 p.m.
I cannot rule out the possibility of a storm becoming severe, reaching wind speeds of 58 miles per hour or more. Parts of our area are under a “minor” severe weather threat, level one out of five (five is the highest level).
There is a slight risk of severe weather for everyone on Saturday. Also possible on Saturday are (in order of most to least concerning) large hail, damaging straight-line winds, tornadoes, downpours and frequent lightning.
It’s still a few days away, but I can’t rule out a severe weather outbreak if a cold front moves through. That could happen late this afternoon and affect the Steelers’ preseason game on Saturday night. I’ve marked Saturday as a “potential First Alert Weather Day.”
Sunday is not expected to be stormy as the front pushes unstable air southwards.
Interestingly, I still have dew points above 15 degrees today, so it will still be humid. Going back a bit, highs on both Friday and Saturday will be above 25 degrees. Highs on Sunday will be above 25 degrees.
Light rain should move in from Lake Erie during the day as if an upper-level low were moving to the east. The chance of light rain will remain on Monday.
My high on Monday was in the mid 70s.
