The ratings of the latest I’m a celebrity, get me out of here! Finale has been revealed and they are quite revealing.

On Sunday evening, reality star Sam Thompson was crowned the new King Of The Jungle, ahead of runner-up Tony Bellew and third place Nigel Farage.

Farage’s presence in the jungle was highly controversial from the start, with many viewers saying they would boycott the series this time because of his involvement.

It was later revealed that this year’s revival of I’m a Celebrity was the least watched since the show began over 20 years ago; the overnight figures for the finale spoke for themselves.

As Metro reported, an average of 6.6 million viewers watched the final, with the peak being 7.5 million.

This is a significant decline compared to last year’s final, which had an average of 10.1 million viewers, a full 3.5 million more than this year.

It’s worth noting, however, that these figures only include those who watched the show live and not those who streamed the finale via catch-up service ITVX.

The controversy surrounding Farage’s casting intensified when media reports claimed he had received £1.5 million for his participation, believed to be the highest fee for a camp participant in the history of “I’m a Celebrity.”

Since leaving the jungle, Farage has addressed these allegations in an interview on Good Morning Britain, confirming that I’m a Celebrity was the “biggest paycheck” he had ever received in his life.

Meanwhile, I’m a Celebrity hosts Ant and Dec have admitted they are keen to stop casting politicians in future seasons of the show.
