Stephen Curry’s stats today: Star guard nears US basketball record in comeback against Serbia in 2024 Olympics semifinals

It didn’t take long for Stephen Curry to make a name for himself in the USA’s semifinal against Serbia at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Less than 20 seconds into the game, Curry put the U.S. team on the scoreboard for the first time with a mid-range jump shot and followed that up with a three-pointer just over a minute later. Given Curry’s struggles throughout the tournament, his early start against Serbia suggested he was on the verge of a long-overdue breakthrough.

Team USA had a tough time against Serbia in the first half, trailing by as many as 17 points before overcoming a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to advance to the gold medal game against Paris.

Stephen Curry’s stats against Serbia today

After scoring 20 points in the first half, he finished the game with 36 points, eight rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes of play. Curry sank 12 of 19 field shots and 9 of 14 three-point shots.

Curry’s 36 points were one point short of the Olympic record set by Carmelo Anthony’s U.S. basketball team, who also set a record with 10 3-pointers in the same game.

Curry scored 17 of his 20 points in the first quarter, including 14 in 3:34. Nothing was more impressive than Curry’s signature three-pointer in front of the United States bench.

Yes, he felt it.

Despite Curry’s heroics, the U.S. team trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half and went into halftime trailing by 11. The Warriors star continued to produce heroics in the second half, including the 3-pointer that ultimately gave the U.S. team the final lead.
