Incredible price for four people to see a Cowboys game

Incredible price for four people to see a Cowboys game

There it is, AT&T Stadium, the house that Jerry built, home of my team, the world famous Dallas Cowboys, plus major concerts and other entertainment throughout the year. I have yet to see a game at the Mother Ship, as we affectionately call AT&T Stadium, not because I don’t want to go to a live NFL game, but simply because…who can afford it?

Our thanks go to the folks at Action Network for keeping an eye on these things and providing the numbers for this article.

And now back to the action!

Here’s the scenario: You, your spouse, and two kids want to attend an NFL home game. Where doesn’t matter at this point because none of it is cheap. So you buy four tickets to the game, not the expensive ones, but mid-priced seats for our examples below. Next, you pay for parking, on average $28-$30. Two beers for the adults, two sodas for the kids, four hot dogs, and someone will buy a new hat for about $25. These numbers don’t include gas, lodging (if you’re traveling from out of town), food for the weekend getaway, etc.

The best – the worst team?

The Arizona Cardinals have the best price of all NFL franchises. The average price for a family of four? $452.46

The lowest price for an NFL stadium visit is paid by the San Francisco 49ers in California: $750.65

Phew, I felt a little dizzy just typing that.

And what about America’s team?

To my pleasant surprise, my Dallas Cowboys landed in the middle of this price ranking, coming in 19th out of 32 teams for just $580.60 for the same family of four. Not as bad as I thought, but still way above what I consider “affordable.”

As for me and my crew, unless we hit a big lottery win, we’ll just have to stay home and watch the games on the big screen, with snacks and ice cold drinks, no long walks or waiting in line for the bathroom or the long drive home after a $600 day trip to watch them lose. Oh, and your new $25 hat flew off in the parking lot and got run over three times before you could get it back… Grrrrr!

No, I’m fine. Maybe this year will be the time… LET’S GO, COWBOYS!
