The first joint training of the Seahawks and Titans offers a “good, entertaining competition” between both teams

“There were a couple of occasions where we just wanted to be a little bit smarter and stuff like that, where we tried to stay on our feet, but for the most part the guys did a good job.”

Callahan said, “Both teams had a lot of energy, a lot of back and forth, but no real problems, so that was good… Really pleased with the way our team performed and I really liked the Seahawks doing the same. It was good, there was a lot of talking and chatting, but that’s football. We all played by the rules today and I thought that was good. We’re all going to go to the extreme, that’s how it works; they do that too. But it was good to see them not go over the top. We played good, clean football through most of practice, so that was good.”

Whether it was a Gunner fighting through double coverage in punt coverage, or Jamal Adams tackling Kenneth Walker III to the ground, or Coby Bryant knocking a Titans running back off his feet with a well-placed shoulder shove, or Tyrel Dodson accidentally grabbing a facemask on a cutback run, there were moments when tensions could have reached unacceptable levels, but to credit the players on both teams for handling those moments well.

“I’m really proud of both teams because it was a great competition out there,” Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith said. “The guys really battled and tried to get better and sometimes it gets rough out there, that’s football. Big, grown men push and shove each other all day long, that’s bound to happen, but I thought the coaches did a great job before practice of just talking about how we want to practice. I thought the guys did a great job, even though it was a little rough out here, of just backing off and not getting into a fight or anything.”
