Emma Watson admits she was “overwhelmed” before Harry Potter meeting

Emma Watson has admitted that she felt “quite overwhelmed” before reuniting with the members of the original cast of “Harry Potter”.

But the actress, who plays bookworm Hermione Granger, said she was “pleasantly surprised” to relive moments from her years of filming.

In a clip released by HBO Max, the producer of the special, she said: “Some of us haven’t seen each other in years.

In the HBO special “Return to Hogwarts,” Watson is reunited with members of the original cast 20 years after the release of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” (PA)

“It was just a joy, an unexpected joy. I really didn’t know how it would feel.

She continues: “I felt pretty overwhelmed this morning and was just quite pleasantly surprised to be able to relive it all.

In an earlier clip, she said: “It feels like no time has passed, and a lot of time has passed.”

In the special broadcast “Return to Hogwarts” she meets Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and many other famous faces on the 20th anniversary of the release of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”.

Members of the cast join American filmmaker Chris Columbus to talk about the popular films and explore how they were made.

Since the films were released, the author of the books on which the films are based, JK Rowling, has become a controversial figure due to her comments on gender identity.

Her views on transgender rights have drawn criticism, including from stars Watson, Radcliffe and Grint.
Rowling, 56, said her experiences with domestic violence and sexual assault partly motivated her to speak out on transgender issues.

Actor Chris Rankin, who played Percy Weasley in the series, is the latest actor to respond to her comments, telling the Eastern Daily Press: “I do a lot of work with LGBTQ+ focused charities and regularly raise money for the Albert Kennedy Trust.

“A lot of my family is a member of this community. It’s a big part of my life and I think when you say that, you can probably guess where my loyalties lie in that regard.

“It is important to emphasise that trans people who say they are male or female are male or female and we should treat them as such.

“It hurts them to say otherwise.”

The highly anticipated retrospective special will be released on January 1, 2022 on Sky and the streaming service Now.
