Hudson Post 100 will make history when it plays its first American Legion World Series game in Shelby, North Carolina. The program had never won a Northeast Regional championship or even played in a regional tournament before this summer.

The Post 100’s basic brand of baseball has prevailed so far, but now they’re on the biggest stage on tour. The World Series begins Thursday and will be contested by eight teams from two divisions.

Hudson belongs to the Stars Division along with Troy (Alabama), Fargo (North Dakota) and League City (Texas). The Stripes Division consists of Wilmington (Delaware), Bossier City (Louisiana), Midland (Michigan) and Billings (Montana).

Each team will play three games in its division between Thursday and Sunday. The top two teams in each division will advance to the semifinals on Monday. The winner of the Stripes will face the runner-up of the Stars and vice versa. These two winners will then face each other in the final on Tuesday.

In the event of a tie between two teams, the result will be resolved by head-to-head, followed by least number of runs allowed, most number of runs scored, and a coin toss. In the event of a tie between three teams, the result will be resolved by least number of runs allowed, most number of runs scored, and a coin toss.

All group matches will be broadcast online on ESPN3, with the semifinals and final on ESPNU. ESPN3 is available via the Watch tab on ESPN.com, the ESPN app or the Hulu streaming service.
