A look at the updated list of the Brewers’ top 30 young players

MLB.com has released a midseason update to its list of the top 100 young players, including the top 30 young players from each team. Promising young player Jeferson Quero (No. 43) leads the Brewers.

Quero, 21, is out for the rest of the season after undergoing season-ending right shoulder surgery following his Triple-A debut in Nashville in March. He dropped slightly from his No. 35 spot earlier in the season, although he rose from Milwaukee’s No. 3 prospect to No. 1 following the graduation of Jackson Chourio (MLB No. 2) and the fall of Jacob Misiorowski (MLB No. 33, now No. 66).

Behind Quero, Cooper Pratt is listed at No. 2 as one of baseball’s biggest up-and-comers. Selected in the sixth round of the 2023 MLB Draft, Pratt has risen to High-A Wisconsin as a five-tool shortstop, ranking No. 62 on MLB’s top 100 list. Pratt was Milwaukee’s No. 10 prospect entering the season, though he has posted a .287/.378/.396 batting average with four home runs, 39 RBIs and 27 steals in 86 games between Low-A and High-A this year.

Following Pratt in the rankings are Misiorowski, Tyler Black, Robert Gasser, Yophery Rodriguez, Brock Wilken, Luke Adams, Braylon Payne and Logan Henderson, who complete the top 10.

Among 2024 draftees, Payne (first round; Brewers No. 9) leads the pack, followed by Bryce Meccage (second round; Brewers No. 14), Blake Burke (Competitive Balance A; Brewers No. 15) and Travis Smith (15th round; Brewers No. 28).
