New extended weather forecast predicts epic winter in Montana

Are you ready for winter? Montana is in for a cold and snowy winter, according to a new, extended weather forecast. Here’s what to expect.

Extended weather forecast for Montana in winter 2025

Temperatures across Montana are already starting to cool, and soon the state will be covered in a layer of fluffy white snow. Montana winters can be absolutely brutal, but this winter could be one for the record books, according to the Farmers’ Almanac. The extended winter weather forecast predicts several massive snowstorms and wet weather across much of the northern United States.

The winter solstice begins on December 21, 2024, but the coldest temperatures are not expected until late January/early February.

This winter, the La Niña phenomenon, the periodic cooling of sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific, is expected to develop and persist throughout the season.

Below average temperatures and wet weather are forecast for most of the country. We’ve already heard reports that this winter in Montana could be the coldest in years, but we’ll have to wait and see how bad it actually gets.

According to the forecast, the worst weather is expected in the last week of January 2025. A massive storm is expected to bring lots of rain, snow, sleet and ice.
