“My Life with the Walter Boys” begins production of “Juicy” Season 2

The cameras are officially rolling for season 2 of My life with the Walter Boys – and it gets even more exciting!

On Wednesday, August 14, Netflix announced that production on the sequel to the hit first season had begun in Calgary, Canada, more than nine months after the series was renewed for a second season.

Star Nikki Rodriguez, who plays protagonist Jackie Howard, told Tudum that being back for round two meant “everything” to her. “There’s nothing better. There’s really no better experience,” she said.

Ashby Gentry, who plays one-third of Jackie’s love triangle as Alex Walter, teased to the outlet that Season 2 will be “juicy with a capital J.”

Netflix announced the start of production on Season 2 with an Instagram post showing a collage of photos of the cast back together at the scenic Calgary ranch where they filmed Season 1. Among the photos is a shot of Rodriguez and Sarah Rafferty, who plays her adoptive mother figure Katherine Walter, holding up peace signs hinting at Season 2.

The collage also includes a solo shot of Noah LaLonde, who forms the final third of the love triangle and plays fiery older brother Cole Walter, while Gentry poses with two of his on-screen brothers, Myles Perez, who plays Lee, and Isaac Arellanes, who plays his twin Isaac.

The report also shows the stars of the love triangle that the story is about together. Rodriguez makes herself comfortable in a booth, next to her sits 26-year-old LaLonde, and next to him 23-year-old Gentry.

Marc Blucas, Connor Stanhope and Corey Fogelmanis – who play the patriarch of the Walter family and two other Walter brothers respectively – also appeared in the segment.

Rodriguez, Gentry and LaLonde all reposted the Netflix collage on their Instagram stories, and LaLonde also posted a beautiful shot of a sunset over the Calgary ranch where they are filming, captioning it, “Welcome home.”

Both Rodriguez and Gentry followed up with a photo of co-star Mya Lowe (who plays Kiley) in which several female cast members point at Gentry as he poses in the middle. “Good to be back ❤️,” Lowe captioned the photo.

When Rodriguez spoke to PEOPLE in February, when asked about the second season, the actress said, “I wish I knew,” even as she gushed about her fellow cast members. “I was super, super lucky. Everyone in the cast is – from the bottom of their hearts – the most genuine people. I couldn’t have asked for a better cast.”

Her off-screen relationship with LaLonde and Gentry is particularly close. “We hang out together all the time,” she said. “They’re both such amazing and wonderful people and I just love them very much. I love them both.”

The exact plot of the second season remains a mystery, as the first season followed the plot of Ali Novak’s 2014 book of the same name: Jackie (Rodriguez) is drawn into the chaos of the Walter house after a tragedy and is torn between Cole (LaLonde) and Alex (Gentry).

Rodriguez called the end of the first season “crazy,” as she told Tudum: “I mean, Jackie is just running away from all her problems, which is honestly so relatable.”

Novak had not yet written a sequel when the series first aired, but following news of the series’ renewal, she confirmed that she is working on a second book in the series that will tell the story of what happens after the book ends – when Jackie goes to New York City for the summer after confirming her feelings for Cole. The sequel, My return to the Walter Boyswill be released on April 15, 2025.
