Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 4 is upon us and the excitement is high, but before we all jump back into the game, there’s one thing we need to address – downtime.
Epic Games has to take the game offline for a while to make sure everything is ready for the new season. How long will the game be offline this time? Here’s a detailed rundown of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 downtime.
How long is Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 downtime?
Typically, Fortnite downtime varies depending on the size of the update. Most of the time, it’s around 2-4 hours. However, if there’s a lot of new stuff – like major map changes or new game mechanics – the downtime can be up to 6 hours or more.
For Chapter 5, Season 4, we anticipate approximately 3-5 hours of downtime based on previous updates. Therefore, we expect the downtime to begin at 2am ET on August 16, 2024 and end at 7am ET.
This should give Epic Games enough time to deliver all the new content, stabilize the servers, and fix any last-minute bugs.
What happens during Fortnite downtime?
While the game is down, you won’t be able to log in. If you try, you’ll just get a message saying the servers are offline.
This can be especially annoying if you can’t wait to play, but it’s just to make sure everything runs smoothly once the update is live.
During downtime, Epic Games is usually busy with a few important things:
- Map changes: Look forward to new points of interest (POIs), terrain improvements or even brand new areas.
- Battle Pass: The new Battle Pass will be packed with new skins, emotes, and other cool rewards.
- Bug fixes: Any annoying bugs that have caused problems will (hopefully) be fixed.
- New features: Get ready for new weapon mechanics or maybe even some new vehicles.
