Pitts Yarnell on the candidate list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award

PITTSBURGH-Pitt quarterback Nate Yarnell was named as a preseason candidate for the prestigious Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is awarded each year to the best quarterback of his class who is graduating or playing in high school.

The nominee list for the award was announced today by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. and lead sponsor AO Smith Corporation.

With this honor, Pitt is making recent history. Kenny Pickett received the 2021 Unitas Golden Arm Award after throwing for 4,319 yards and 42 touchdowns to lead the Panthers to 11 wins and the ACC title.

Yarnell is 1.98 m tall and weighs 97 kg. (Austin, Texas/Lake Travis) begins his redshirt junior season at Pitt. He has played in six games with three starts and completed 67% of his passes (51 of 76) for 790 yards with five touchdowns and one interception.

Yarnell already earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Pittsburgh.
