Miriam Margolyes calls on adult Harry Potter fans to grow up

Miriam Margolyes has advised adult “Harry Potter” fans to grow up.

The 82-year-old actress played Professor Sprout in two of the films based on JK Rowling’s book series, and Miriam has revealed she is “worried” about adults still obsessed with the stories because they are “for children”.

In an interview with New Zealand broadcaster 1News, she explained: “I worry about Harry Potter fans because they should have moved on from this by now. It was 25 years ago and it’s for children. I think it is for children. But they get stuck in it.”

Miriam further revealed that she often creates personalized videos for her fans through the Cameo service and is thrilled by the requests from loyal Potter fans.

She added: “I do cameos and people say, ‘Oh, we’re having a Harry Potter-themed wedding.’ And I think, ‘Oh my goodness, what’s their first fun night going to be?’ I can’t even think about it. Harry Potter is wonderful and I’m very grateful for it, but it’s over.”

Miriam had previously admitted that she had not become rich from her film appearances. She received just £60,000 ($68,000) for her leading roles in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”. Lead actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, on the other hand, all earned seven-figure sums.

She told the Metro newspaper: “I’m not very ladylike. I have a ladylike voice and I think it’s the contrast of saying ‘c***face’ in a very sweet voice that appeals to people. Anyway, I’ve made a lot of money from it so I’m perfectly happy with it.”

“I never made millions from Harry Potter. I think the three or four main actors did. I was only in two of them and only got £60,000 for my role as Professor Sprout, but I don’t moan. Now. I moaned then, but it made me very famous!”
