Before the upcoming season of I’m a celebrity…get me out of here!Winner of the 2023 award and reigning Queen of the Jungle Liz Ellis has shared what she thinks of the show’s new host, Robert Irwin.
In October, it was announced that the 20-year-old “Wildlife Warrior” had been chosen to succeed Chris Brown as co-host alongside Julia Morris for the show’s tenth season.
In conversation with Yahoo Lifestyle As for the casting decision, Liz admits she thinks Robert is “fantastic” in the role and can’t wait to tune in.
“It’s like they took Chris Brown and shrunk him. It’s just the same,” she laughs. “I think Robert Irwin is brilliant and Julia is there and she’s just incredible.”
“It can’t be the same chemistry as Julia and Chris, that was a special kind of humor, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what Julia and Robert come up with. I think it’s just going to be a wonderful kind of connection between them and I know she’s thrilled to be working with him. I don’t know him at all but he seems like a damn delight so I can’t wait to see how that goes.”

The Gladiators The presenter described her experience in the jungle as “truly transformative” and shared that she still has a close relationship with all of her co-stars.
“We are still friends and we cheered each other on as we continued, like when Anna Polyviou Dessert Master and Harry Garside qualified for the Olympics and Aesha Scott was named New Zealand TV personality of the year,” she explains.
“So we’re all keeping our fingers crossed for each other in our little WhatsApp group, which is really nice.”
Liz Ellis gives advice for the 2024 cast
After spending 28 days in the jungle last year, Liz says she has plenty of advice for the upcoming celebrity cast.
“I was given some advice before I left and was very grateful for it: avoid tea, coffee and sugar for a few weeks beforehand,” she says.
“You don’t want to have withdrawal symptoms from them while you’re sleeping on a tent bed in the jungle with God knows what’s crawling around you at night. So I stopped taking them beforehand and didn’t have any bad days in the jungle, which was good.”

Liz also offers another important piece of advice: make smart choices when selecting your pre-approved luxury item.
“I took my Pilates mat with me and it was a lifesaver because sitting on that hard log for 28 days was unbearable,” she recalls. “So I was so glad I had something soft to sit on and could slide it under my bed at night.”
“So skip the tea, coffee and sugar and have something soft.”
