Several injuries reported in Tuesday’s pileup in Kosciusko County

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating after four people were injured in a pile-up accident Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the accident, which involved six vehicles, occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on State Road 15 south of Southwood Dr.

The department said a 28-year-old Warsaw man was traveling south on SR 15 when he crossed the center line and collided with a Nissan Frontier and a Ford F150.

A nearby semi-truck driver reportedly tried to avoid the collision but struck the Ford F150. The impact caused the semi-truck to roll over and strike a Chevy Traverse.

The driver of a Ford Escape also tried to avoid the accident, but was hit by the Chevy Traverse, which was pushed forward by the collision with the semi-trailer.

The Warsaw man was flown to an area hospital with internal injuries, police said. His condition is currently unknown. The driver of the Nissan, a 44-year-old Claypool woman, was also taken to an area hospital with injuries.

The driver of the semi-trailer and the F150 suffered minor injuries, the other drivers involved were uninjured.

The department says officers were assisted by Warsaw Police, Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Department, Lutheran Emergency Services, Lutheran Air Force, Kosciusko County Emergency Management, Reichert & Knepp Towing Service and Crouse Towing Service.

The crash is currently still under investigation.
