NWS confirms: EF1 tornado hit Summit County on Tuesday

The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF1 tornado struck Summit County during Tuesday’s storm.

A storm damage team was working in the Richfield and Boston area on Thursday and found that a tornado had moved through the area with an estimated peak speed of 104 mph (167 km/h). The damage path was 3.3 miles (5.32 kilometers) long and a maximum of 300 feet (90 meters) wide. No injuries or deaths were reported.

There were power outages and numerous fallen trees near Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

As of Thursday morning, Riverview Road has been closed from Boston Mills Road to Stine Road due to debris.

The Canal Exploration Center is closed due to a power outage, but power has been restored at the Boston Mill Visitor Center, Barnes added.

Anyone in the park can report a fallen tree or other hazard by calling 440-546-5945.
