Kelly Ripa is counting down the days to a major career milestone — the day she is officially honored as a “Disney Legend” with a Disney Legend Award.
The 53-year-old television star is one of many prominent celebrities being honored this year at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, a three-day Disney convention in California.
The convention will end with a ceremony honoring the legends, which this year includes Harrison Ford, Angela Bassett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Miley Cyrus and others.
Kelly is counting down the days to this milestone on social media while spending some time LIVE with Kelly and Mark, although no reason was given for her absence.
In her Instagram stories she said the following: an adorable snapshot of her and her husband Mark Consuelos in true 90s fashion (and hairstyle) with their two eldest children Michael and Lola as babies at Disney World in Florida“From Disney World to…” she wrote next to it.
Kelly then added a photo of her induction into the Disney Legends Hall of Fame and added: “On to Disney Legend! It’s almost time! I’m honored and excited to join the Disney Legends of 2024 at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.”
In fact, the ceremony will even serve as a reunion of sorts, as it will be hosted by none other than Ryan Seacrest, also known as the former host of LIVE and a close friend of Kelly.

Her bio alongside her recording states: “Kelly Ripa is one of the most powerful voices in media, with a diverse body of work in front of and behind the camera. With a career at ABC spanning 30 years, Kelly has greeted viewers each morning with her sharp wit as co-host and executive producer of the nationally syndicated show. LIVE.”
Her list of television achievements during her decades in the industry also states: “In September 2022, Kelly added New York Times bestselling author in her resume, as her collection Live Wire: Long-winded short stories was published.”

“She also recently launched the second season of her own podcast entitled Let’s talk off camera with Kelly Ripa. She lives with Mark Consuelos in New York City and the couple has three children together.”
During Kelly’s absence from LIVEMark has taken over the helm of the show with a rotating series of guest hosts including Deja Vu, Jane Krakowski and Maria Menounos.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 11, at the convention in California. Ryan announced the event in a special video, saying, “The Disney Legends ceremony has become one of the most meaningful traditions of the Walt Disney Company. We celebrate people who define Disney and who have left an indelible mark on the company.”
The awards were first presented in 1987 and are considered “the highest honor the Walt Disney Company can bestow.” In announcing the winners, Ryan also paid tribute to his friend, introducing Kelly as “my good friend Kelly Ripa.”
