Second day of storms in a row brings flooding and hail to northern Utah

OREM, Utah – As another storm moved through northern Utah Tuesday afternoon, some areas were hit by significant flooding.

And for the second night in a row, Utah County was hit hard.

In Orem, neighbors of all ages were out shoveling and dumping water into the sewers. Children and parents were out with buckets, helping homes with damaged basements or sloping garages.

Some residents had to clear out damaged clothing and furniture and use fans and dehumidifiers.

Although the weather forecast had predicted thunderstorms, the amount of water was too great to manage. Even hours later on Tuesday evening, there was still a lot of water on the main roads and paths.

People who were born and raised in the area say they have never seen anything like it before.

“Some neighbors said they had to stay away from their windows, it was that scary,” Brittany Barney said.

And when there is no standing water, there is a lot of debris – leaves, branches and gravel – lying in the middle of the road, even at the I-15 exit.

In addition, there was water on the highway, causing traffic jams long after rush hour.

And in some areas the hail was so heavy that it looked like the ground was covered in snow.

And in the meantime, some took the opportunity to have fun in the water.
