On Saturday, September 21, the Volunteer Action Center will host its annual Make a Difference Day. Make a Difference Day is the largest day of engagement at the University of Arkansas and the surrounding community. This event provides students with the opportunity to give back by volunteering with local nonprofit organizations.

Last year, Make a Difference Day generated over 1,000 hours of service from over 400 volunteers and an economic impact of over $30,000. The Volunteer Action Center hopes to make an even bigger impact at Make a Difference Day 2024. Students interested in participating in this event can register on GivePulse.

This year, there are several volunteer events to suit different interests and causes. Students can choose from more than 12 projects run by local nonprofits, including Botanical Garden of the Ozarks, Apple Seeds Farms, Habitat for Humanity, Ozark Mission Project, and many more.

This event begins at 8 a.m. on September 21 at the Arkansas Union Mall. Free breakfast, snacks and coffee will be provided while volunteers arrive. It is recommended that volunteers wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.
