On Tuesday morning, Vice President Kamala Harris announced that she will run in a “formation” with her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, to defeat her Republican opponents Donald Trump and JD Vance in the crucial election in November.

Aside from their political ambitions, Harris and Walz have another common interest: their “irreplaceable” love for Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter.

Last year, during the Grammy-winning musician’s Renaissance World Tour, Walz welcomed Bey to Minneapolis during her stop at Huntington Bank Stadium on July 20, 2023.

“I may be the governor of Minnesota, but we all know who runs the world. Welcome to Minnesota, Beyoncé!” Walz said at the time.

Governor and Mayor Jacob Frey declared this day “Bey Day” and called her “one of the most influential artists in the world.”

“Beyoncé’s extraordinary artistry, powerful messages and captivating performances have inspired millions and made a lasting impression around the world,” the proclamation said.

The groundbreaking 56-show Renaissance World Tour, which Harris also took part in, grossed a whopping $500 million and attracted millions of fans who attended each concert in her chrome-colored, cowboy-inspired attire. The success of the show underscored Beyoncé’s impact on the economy not only in the United States, but also beyond.

Beyoncé’s team has reportedly given Harris permission to use the 2016 song “Freedom” for her campaign. The Democratic presidential candidate played the record from Beyoncé’s album “Lemonade” during her first official visit to the campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, in July.

The text, “I will keep running because a winner never gives up.” rang out from the loudspeakers as Harris joined the applause at the podium.

The song was also heard in the background of her first commercial, “Harris For President”: “In this election, each of us faces a question: What kind of country do we want to live in? Some people say we should be a country of chaos and fear and hate. But we choose something else. We choose freedom,” Harris said.

Beyoncé has not publicly endorsed a candidate, but her mother, Tina Knowles, expressed her full support for Harris’ candidacy.

“New, youthful, sharp, full of energy!!!! You asked for it and our President Biden did what was best for the country! He put aside his personal ego, power and fame,” Knowles wrote in an Instagram post. “That is the definition of a great leader. Thank you President Biden for your service and leadership. Keep up the good work Vice President Kamala Harris as President.”
