2024 – Toronto International Film Festival

(Toronto) Jason Reitman’s column about the beginnings of the American cult show Saturday Night Live will have its Canadian premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Organizers announced Tuesday that “Saturday Night” is among the 20 new films, including Francis Ford Coppola’s ambitious project Big citystarring Adam Driver, which was poorly received by critics after its world premiere in Cannes in May.

Other notable films include the first English-language feature film by Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar, The room next doorabout a mother and daughter separated by a misunderstanding, starring Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton.

The Canadian additions include the first feature film by Marie-Hélène Viens and Philippe Lupien, You are not alonewith Pier-Luc Funk, Marianne Fortier, François Papineau, Sandrine Bisson, Blaise Tardif and Micheline Lanctôt. The film is scheduled to be released in Quebec cinemas on October 18.

We already knew that Sophie Deraspe’s latest film, Shepherd, The film, shot in the Alps, would have its world premiere at TIFF.

The “In Conversation With…” series features live interviews with Cate Blanchett, Zoe Saldaña, Steven Soderbergh, Hyun Bin and Lee Dong-wook.

Organizers said Tuesday that filmmakers Mina Shum and Damien Chazelle will participate in special screenings of their respective films. Bittersweet happiness And Whiplash.

The “Visionaries” series includes stage presentations by Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, the screenwriter of Doctor Who Steven Moffat and Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón.
