Harry Potter fans are just realizing what Aunt Petunia is doing in the kitchen scene

You might think that after all the times that fans have seen something in the Harry Potter Films, there would be nothing left to shock us… but that would be a false assumption.

In fact, there are probably So There are many things in the franchise that you missed that could add depth or hidden meaning to the scenes.

However, there is one scene in particular that fans are just now learning is a good nod to the books.

It is right at the beginning of the very first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which was first published in 2001 (sorry to make you feel old…).

The first film is an absolute classic. Many of us have seen it countless times, but probably never fully grasped the scope of what happens in it.

As you already know, Aunt Petunia is an evil old witch (well, Muggle and bitch) and she is just horrible to poor Harry in most scenes.

In this particular scene, she can be seen in the background in the kitchen when Harry receives his first letter from Hogwarts.

It wouldn’t be foolish to think that she was just a minor character at this point, because many people probably thought the same thing.

But on Reddit, her fans point out what she actually does with the weed.

One shared the details with other Potterheads and wrote: “In Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, In the background of this scene, Aunt Petunia can be seen dyeing Dudley’s old clothes grey for Harry’s uniform.

“It’s only mentioned in the book.”

As Mr. Dursley looks through his mail and Harry admires the Hogwarts envelope with his name on it, Aunt Petunia can be seen in the background, messing around with a pile of clothes in a large pot.

In the original book, the Dursleys had originally planned to send Harry to Stonewall High rather than Dudley’s prestigious Smeltings Academy.

For his school uniform, Aunt Petunia had dyed some of Dudley’s old clothes grey for Harry to wear.

And luckily for him, the wizard boy’s letter from Hogwarts arrived just in time so that he did not have to wear the service uniform that looked like “elephant skin”.

Harry Potter Fans were shocked when the Easter egg was revealed to them and baffled that they hadn’t discovered it themselves.

Another wrote: “Remember when the movies were so close to the books? Great times.”

And one wrote: “I always wondered what she does. I had obviously forgotten that detail when I read the book and saw the movie.”

Other Harry Potter Fans were left laughing their heads off as Americans talked about things they thought were magical – but they’re actually just Brits.

They’re also really hilarious. I’m talking treacle cakes, Christmas crackers and food trucks on the train. Oh, so magical.
