Injury update: Good news about Detroit Lions rookie CB Terrion Arnold

According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Detroit Lions rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold is not expected to miss any regular season playing time after suffering what Rapoport describes as a chest injury.

Arnold left practice early on Monday after getting injured on a one-on-one coverage play against Amon-Ra St. Brown. Arnold spent at least 20 to 30 minutes with a trainer working on his upper body before eventually heading to the locker room. It’s unclear how much of the rest of training camp and the preseason Arnold is expected to miss, but his return in Week 1 is obviously great news.

Arnold, who the Lions selected in the first round after moving up five spots and is now the No. 24 overall pick, has been in the starting lineup at outside cornerback since the start of training camp.

At this time, we are still awaiting updates on two other key Lions players who were injured during Monday’s practice. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs was forced out with a hamstring injury and rookie second-round cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. suffered an ankle injury. There is no word yet on the severity of the injuries. The only clarification comes from Adam Schefter, who notes that Gibbs’ leg injury (as the Lions described it) is actually a hamstring injury.

We should know more about the Lions’ injury situation on Wednesday morning. Coach Dan Campbell is scheduled to join the Costa and Jansen with Heather radio show on local station 97.1 The Ticket at 8 a.m. ET Wednesday morning.

UPDATE: Take that as you will, but Ennis Rakestraw was on Instagram Live with Arnold on Tuesday night and said, “We are perfectly fine.”
