Millwall boss confirms Daniel Kelly deal in January

Today it was reported that Kelly would move to London after failing to sign a new contract with the Scottish champions. Brendan Rodgers was quoted as saying he considered the deal satisfactory, but Kelly disagreed.

Since Rodgers does not want to give a departing player a chance in the first team, he will play in the Lowland League for the rest of the year.

When his contract expires on December 31, 2024, he will officially join the English Championship team.

What is surprising is that Kelly’s agent has not spoken to Neil Harris about the benefits of bringing the player in now rather than in January. Given the current situation, that would certainly be beneficial for all parties involved. Daniel Kelly will be treading water in the Lowland League and may or may not be motivated when he does get a chance to play.

Millwall could use the player more now than they did in January. As with Rocco Vata, Celtic are entitled to a cross-border development fee.
