The college football season is just around the corner and the Purdue Boilermakers are hoping to make progress.

2023 was a tough season for the Gold and Black under new head coach Ryan Walters, as the team struggled to a 4-8 finish with a 3-6 record in the conference. While the team ended the year with a win over rival IU in the Old Oaken Bucket Game, they have higher goals for 2024.

On Tuesday’s edition of The Ride With JMV, John spoke with Boilermakers junior running back Devin Mockobee about the difference between his first year under Coach Walters and today.

“This year, especially compared to last year, the atmosphere is very different. Obviously you can see the roster is a little bit different, we have different people in the room, but I think we have a whole new group of guys, and I mean still guys we’ve had here before, but you can tell everyone just came in this year. You can see the difference between this year and last year. I just really like everyone we have in the room now.”

Devin also talked about his expectations for himself for 2024.

“I don’t really go into this stuff with any expectations of myself, any expectations or numbers that I’m aiming for, because at the end of the day, the only goal as a team is to win. So when it comes to stuff like this, I just want to do whatever I need to do to make sure we can win games.”
