Large-scale road closures reported in Charleston due to flooding

Severe flooding forced several major downtown streets to be closed on Tuesday, including portions of Morrison Street, Calhoun Street and King Street.

According to the city’s Road Closures and Traffic Disruptions website, the following streets have been closed since 4:35 p.m.

  • Ashley Ave. Daughty St. to Calhoun St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Ashley Ave. between Bull St. and Calhoun St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Beaufain St. at Rutledge Ave. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Broad St. at Rutledge Ave. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Calhoun St. between Coming St. and Courtenay Dr. – westbound closed due to flooding
  • Haygood Ave. at Fishburne St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Huger St. at King St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • King St. at Huger St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Morris St. west of Coming St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Ogier St. at Calhoun St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Rutledge Ave. at Beaufain St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Rutledge Ave. at Broad St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Rutledge Ave. – at Simons St. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Spring St. at Hagood Ave. – all lanes closed due to flooding
  • Vanderhorst St. between Smith St. and Rutledge Ave. – all lanes closed due to flooding
