Xbox Game Pass adds its 100th game of the year in 2024
An even more memorable milestone of this release concerns its place in the annual Xbox Game Pass offering, because Mafia: Definitive Edition happens to be the 100th title to hit Microsoft’s subscription service in 2024. It was originally expected to take 99th place on this year’s release list, but was pushed back after the surprise release of the Downfall + Downfall 2 bundle.

His arrival should come as no surprise to the most attentive fans, as several sources had already leaked the Xbox Game Pass debut of Mafia: Definitive Edition in July 2024. The game itself is now available to Microsoft subscribers on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC. Mafia: Definitive Edition can also be streamed via Xbox Cloud Gaming, an exclusive benefit of the XGP Ultimate tier. It includes 43 achievements worth a total of 1,000 Gamerscore points.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is the very first part of the long-running franchise to be available on Xbox Game Pass. As a remake of the very first mafia game from 2002, it also serves as an excellent entry point into the series. Its release in 2020 was largely positively reviewed, with many critics praising Mafia: Definitive Edition for its intoxicating atmosphere, greatly improved driving physics, and a host of quality of life improvements that brought the 18-year-old original closer to modern sensibilities.

The mafia Remake rounds out the first wave of Xbox Game Pass additions in August 2024. Wave 2 is expected to be announced soon, possibly as early as today.
