Durant made basketball history with the fourth Olympic gold medal of his career, while Booker won his second Olympic title with his 98-87 win over the French team on Saturday.
Both Durant and Booker played key roles in the U.S. team’s run to the gold medal game.
Both veterans settled into their new roles, with Durant coming off the bench as the sixth man for the U.S. team and Booker often being asked to make contributions that weren’t always reflected in the statistics, ultimately helping the Americans win their fifth consecutive gold medal in the event.
Their impact was most evident during a narrow semifinal win over Serbia, when the pair’s late offense helped spark an American comeback and put the U.S. team in the gold medal game.
Booker and Durant then combined for 30 points and 10 rebounds for Team USA in the gold medal game against France.
The Suns stars first celebrated the victory with the rest of their Team USA colleagues:
Durant finished the Olympics averaging 13.8 points on 54 percent shooting from the field, while Booker averaged 11.7 points on 56.8 percent shooting.
Both players could potentially play for the US team again at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Durant, who will be 39 years old at the tournament, has not excluded another appearance at the games.
Thankfully, NBA fans won’t have to wait that long to see the star duo play together again. Booker and Durant are currently under contract with the Suns through the 2025-26 season, with Booker’s contract running through the 2027-28 season.
Before NBA action resumes, Booker and Durant will apparently focus on celebrating their Olympic victory in France.
