1-MONTH ALERT: California Swing brings World of Outlaws back to Bakersfield, Merced in mid-September

Halfway through the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series’ California Swing, the series returns to two West Coast racetracks for the first time in two years.

The weekend begins at the Bakersfield Speedway with the Showdown “Nashville West” on Friday, September 13th, and then venture to Merced Speedway for the Federated Auto Parts Yosemite Showdown on Saturday, September 14th.

Both events have produced a variety of winners, including six different consecutive winners at Bakersfield and three different consecutive winners at Merced. The California natives conquered the two tracks during the World of Outlaws’ final trip to both in 2022. Giovanni Scelzi of Fresno, California, won at Bakersfield and Carson Macedo of Lemoore, California, won at Merced. Scelzi also set the track record that day with a 10.057-second lap on the 1/4-mile track.

Michael “Buddy” Kofoid of Penngrove, California, will look to join his Outlaw California colleagues as winners at the two tracks. Of his four victories in the series so far, one has come in California – at Placerville Speedway in 2023.

Currently, no driver has achieved a World of Outlaws victory on either track.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch both races live on DIRTVision.
