The New York Police Department has released photos of the suspects wanted in the stabbing death of a 13-year-old girl near the Barclays Center in Brooklyn over the weekend.
Authorities say they are still looking for the three teenagers who attacked a 13-year-old girl right outside the arena at around 7:45 p.m. on August 11. After an argument, one of the boys stabbed the girl in the stomach.
Officials of the 78th District responded to the incident, but the group had already fled. The emergency services took the young victim to Maimonides Children’s Hospital for treatment.
In an interview with ABC News, the victim said she had been at the local Stop and Shop with a friend shortly before when the suspects approached her. She added that they initially pointed at her, but then when she attacked, she tried to ignore them.
“He tried to stab my girlfriend but missed. I didn’t know he was going to go and thought the knife was a toy,” the victim told ABC. “I thought he was still going to try to stab me but I just ran. I didn’t even turn around to see if he was chasing me, I just ran.”
On Monday evening, investigators released pictures of their suspected attackers in the hope that someone would recognize them.
According to police, one offender was last seen wearing a black headband, a light blue T-shirt and black pants, while the second was wearing a black AC/DC hoodie and black pants and was carrying a black book bag. The third suspect was last seen wearing a black and gray jacket, a black shirt and black pants.
All three suspects are said to be between 16 and 19 years old.
