New Restaurants in DeSoto County: 7 Places to Try

It’s been a busy year for restaurant openings in DeSoto County, and this summer was no exception.

From ramen bars to artesian chocolate shops to soulful Southern food, culinary diversity continues to grow across the country.

Olive Branch had the most new openings this season, with four restaurants opening. Ash’s Irish Pub also opened its doors earlier this year and shares space with another restaurant on this list.

Two restaurants on that list have opened in Southaven’s Silo Square, bringing the project closer to completion. Two more venues, Sippin Silo Wine Bar and Lucky Dog Music Hall & Bar, opened in the complex earlier this year.

Here are some of the restaurants that have opened in DeSoto County so far this summer.

Kyuramen

With an aesthetic straight out of a traditional Tokyo ramen bar, Kyuramen’s attempt at delivering authentic ramen doesn’t go unnoticed. Choose from 11 different base ramen bowls, several rice burgers, and a variety of interesting appetizers like squid balls. This is the only branch of the nationwide chain in the Memphis area, so if you’re looking for a new place to try ramen, look no further.

Rotolos Crafts & Crust

6237 Front St., Southaven; rotolos.com

This pizzeria brings something unique to DeSoto: Detroit-style pizza with its signature rectangular shape and deep crust. If that’s not your style, Rotolo’s also offers classic 13-inch craft pizzas, Chicago deep dish, and 18-inch thin crust.

Rotolo’s is no one-trick pony – between seven flavors of buffalo wings, eleven unique shareables, pastas, salads and even burgers, no one leaves without a full stomach. Rotolo’s is currently the newest restaurant in Silo Square in Southaven.

Mama Rosa

This new Mexican spot has a more modern, upscale feel than some of its competitors, but still offers a homey and relaxed atmosphere. Mama Rosa offers all the usual fare like tacos, quesadillas, rice and refried beans. Give it a try—you might find your new favorite spot.

Gift Chocolate City

5627 Getwell Road, Southaven

Cadeau is the only chocolate shop in DeSoto that specializes exclusively in candy, filling a gap in the market for those with a sweet tooth. Cadeau carries every kind of chocolate imaginable, or anything that can be covered in chocolate. They also have crepes, waffles, and fruit cups, all covered in chocolate, of course.

Emotional chick

Although they’ve only been open since late July, Soulful Chick may be the place to be in DeSoto for top-notch soul food. Order wings, drumsticks and filets with six different sauces like honey gold and lemon pepper, or order catfish with classic sides like candied yams and fried okra. Just one look at Soulful Chick’s food is enough to make your mouth water.

Mississippi Old Town Taco Co.

Once operated out of a food truck, Mississippi Old Town Taco Co. now has permanent residence in the old Cotton Gin building in Olive Branch’s Old Towne neighborhood. (It’s in the same building as Ash’s Irish Pub.) Grab a beer and authentic Mexican street food and enjoy the bar’s atmosphere and occasional live music.

Zaxby’s

There’s now another fast-food chicken option in Olive Branch with Zaxby’s. The new location opened on August 5, seats 56 customers, and will eventually employ about 55 people.

This is the fifth Zaxby’s location in DeSoto and the second in Olive Branch.
