Embraer continues to report positive results in 2024. Revenues for the first half of the year totaled $2.39 billion, compared to $2 billion in the first half of 2023, according to an Aug. 8 company statement. Consolidated revenues for the quarter totaled $1.49 billion, up 16% year-on-year and 67% from the first quarter. This increase was driven by solid performance from the Services & Support and Commercial Aviation business units, which posted revenue increases of 19% and 17%, respectively, the statement said.

During the quarter, 47 aircraft were delivered, an 88% increase from the first quarter, including 27 business jets, 19 commercial aircraft and a C-390 Millennium multi-role transport for the Portuguese Air Force, according to Embraer’s second-quarter backlog and deliveries report. Portugal ordered five C-390s in 2019, the first of which will enter service in October 2023, the report said. Total deliveries increased 12% compared to the second quarter of 2023.

The Defense and Security business unit generated revenue of $187.2 million in the second quarter, up nearly 130% year-over-year, primarily due to higher C-390 volumes, the statement said. As a result, gross margin improved from -1.5% in the second quarter of 2023 to 9% in the second quarter of 2024.
