Ava Van Valen and bank employees find rescued kitten

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Today’s “Something Good” highlights a sweet reunion at WCTV’s station today.

Our own Ava Van Valen and Capital City Bank employee Sawyer Ulmer were reunited with the kitten they rescued in July.

They found the kitten with a severely broken leg and worked with the Leon County Humane Society to capture and treat him.

More good news:

A veterinary technician from Paws and Claws became his foster mother and nursed him back to health.

Today they brought the sweet little one by to say hello and to update us on his health.

“We are cautiously optimistic that he will be able to keep his hind leg. However, we will have more information when his x-rays are reviewed again and will be able to decide at that time whether his hind leg needs to be amputated – or if he can keep it,” the veterinary technician said. “We’re keeping our fingers crossed that he can keep it.”

And more good news: When Ryder is well enough, Sawyer will adopt him!

A big thank you to everyone who helped save Ryder’s life.
