First “Back to School Bash” in Charleston County postponed

CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) – The new school year begins Tuesday for Charleston County School District employees, and to celebrate, the district is hosting its first-ever Back to School Bash.

It was originally scheduled for last Tuesday but had to be postponed due to Tropical Storm Debby, which passed through the Lowcountry last week. It will now take place on August 26 at Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island. Gates are scheduled to open at 5 p.m.

This is a ticketed event open to Charleston County School District staff and contract employee groups.

This event will be headlined by Charleston County students, with a live performance by Darius Rucker, and will also feature local celebrities Ric Rush, Octavia Mitchell and Bill Walsh.

There will be music, food, games and fun as the school district comes together to celebrate dedicated staff and start the new year with students.

“We are thrilled to host this spectacular event,” said Anita Huggins, superintendent of the Charleston County School District. “It is a wonderful opportunity for our teachers and staff to come together, celebrate our accomplishments, look forward to a fantastic school year and thank the hearts and hands that dedicate their work to children every day.”

In addition to the lineup, the event features:

• Food and drinks can be purchased

• Presentation of the bands

• An exciting school spirit competition for the most creative and enthusiastic expressions of school pride

• Other school performances, including dance groups, cheerleaders, choirs, tap dancers and mascots
