Boston police update wanted list and ask public for help

BOSTON — The Boston Police Department updated its wanted list on Aug. 12 and asked the public for help in locating people wanted for various crimes.

To solicit the public’s assistance, the department reiterated that tips can be submitted anonymously by calling the CrimeStoppers hotline at 1 (800) 494-TIPS or by texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463).

The police emphasize that they are interested in the information provided and not in the identity of the informant, thus ensuring a 100% anonymous process.

Calls and text messages to CrimeStoppers are answered by officers and trained personnel who then forward the information to the appropriate investigators.

In addition, the public can submit photos and videos of potential suspects through a special app. Details are available on the police department’s website.

Authorities remind the public that they are not required to reveal their identity when providing information about a crime.

This commitment is part of a broader initiative to promote community participation in public safety and law enforcement.

The police department also cautioned that the status of those on the most wanted list could change.

Some of them may already have been arrested. The public is advised to check outstanding warrants with the police before taking any action.

The Boston Police Department continues to work closely with the community to apprehend suspects and reduce crime, and emphasizes the critical role of community participation in these efforts.
