Oscar-winning cinematographer Linus Sandgren (“La La Land,” “Saltburn,” “Babylon”) is Lenses “Jay Kelly” by Noah Baumbach, which recently completed production in New York City.

Lindgren is the last cameraman to work on a Baumbach production. The cameras are constantly changing. The last ones included Lol Crawley (“White Noise”), Robbie Ryan (“Marriage Story,” “The Meyerowitz Stories”) and Sam Levy (“Mistress America”). Now it’s the turn of the highly talented Lindgren.

“Star-studded” doesn’t even begin to describe “Jay Kelly.” After his $150 million-plus Netflix project “White Noise” fell through, Baumbach is now giving the streaming giant the project he wants most: a romantic comedy set in New York and London.

“Jay Kelly” stars George Clooney and Adam Sandler. The cast also includes Greta Gerwig, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson, Emily Mortimer, Isla Fisher, Jim Broadbent and Riley Keough.

Produced by Netflix, the film, an ensemble piece, is described as a “funny and emotional coming-of-age story about adults.”

Baumbach is directing the film, which he co-wrote with actress Emily Mortimer, who has become a close family friend. Mortimer previously wrote and directed the BBC series The Pursuit of Love. Interestingly, Brad Pitt was originally considered for the Clooney role, but dropped out due to his commitment to Joseph Kosinski’s $200 million Formula 1 film, which is still being shot.

“Jay Kelly” is Baumbach’s fourth film with Netflix, after Netflix also distributed “White Noise,” “Marriage Story” and “The Meyerowitz Stories.” Baumbach’s other notable films include his two best films, “The Squid and the Whale,” “France Ha” and “Greenberg.”

Last month, Venice Film Festival chief Alberto Barbera hinted that “Jay Kelly” would most likely premiere on the Lido in 2025.
