Worcester residents can submit designs for their very own Election Day sticker, the city’s Department of Cultural Development and Election Commission announced Monday.

As part of the “Create the Vote” campaign, citizens can submit up to three designs via an online application.

All entries must be submitted by September 1, the commission said, after which the finalist designs will be put up for voting on official social platforms. Social media voting will end on September 8 to ensure the winning sticker can be printed and shipped in time. The creator of the winning sticker will receive a cash prize of $300, the commission said.

Designers must include the phrase “My Voice Counts” somewhere in the design and are encouraged to submit their designs in languages other than English.

“Following the tremendous success of our 2020 Create the Vote public campaign, which distributed over 55,000 stickers featuring designs by eight local artists, we are delighted to once again partner with the Electoral Commission to revitalize this creative voter participation initiative,” said Yaffa Fain, Deputy Commissioner for Cultural Development.

The stickers will be available to both in-person and absentee voters. The statement said more than 16,000 Worcester residents are registered to vote by mail.
