It has been confirmed that Castleford Tigers star Joe Westerman will play his farewell game in 2025 against his former club Hull FC.

Westerman turns 35 in November and is currently in his 18th season of professional rugby league, but will be entering his 19th season next season.

Only last year, the striker signed a two-year extension and it has now been confirmed that he will begin season 19 with a farewell game against his former club Hull FC at The Jungle.

The news was announced by both clubs, with Hull FC releasing a statement confirming the details.

It states: “Hull FC will face Castleford Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle in February 2025 as both clubs celebrate the farewell of Joe Westerman.”

“The game is part of both teams’ pre-season preparations for the 2025 season, but it is also an opportunity for the two clubs Westerman played for to come together and celebrate his career that has spanned almost two decades.”

It has been confirmed that the game will take place on February 1, 2025 at the home of the Castleford Tigers. The jungle for a kick-off at 3 p.m.

Westerman began his career with Castleford Tigers before moving to Hull FC, making over 100 appearances for the Black and Whites between 2011 and 2015.

Brief stints at Warrington Wolves and Toronto Wolfpack were followed by another spell at FC before joining Castleford rivals Wakefield Trinity. After two years at Belle Vue, he returned to his boyhood club in 2022.

He has made over 400 appearances in his career and has also been capped twice for England. He was also named co-captain of Castleford Tigers this season, where he has made 19 appearances.

The Castleford Tigers also confirmed the departure of their captain and shared the news in a video on social media.
