Suspect arrested after manhunt across several counties who allegedly shot man in the head, authorities say

According to San Antonio police, a suspect who was the subject of a multi-county manhunt on Saturday shot a man in the head the same day.

The first shooting occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of Pasadena Street.

According to police, an argument broke out between 47-year-old Eric Rodriguez and another man for unknown reasons.

During the argument, Rodriguez fired several shots at the other man before fleeing the scene, police said.

Officers went to the scene of the shooting and noticed that the victim had gunshot wounds to the head, SAPD said.

The victim was eventually taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Rodriguez then fled via U.S. Highway 90 to Castroville, where several law enforcement agencies began searching for him, Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown said.

Brown said Rodriguez eventually crashed his vehicle in a residential area and attempted to flee from police on foot.

SAPD, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Castroville Police Department and other agencies assisted in the search for Rodriguez.

Authorities set up a perimeter and searched the entire remote area. Brown said Rodriguez was found hiding in a shed under some items.

According to Brown, Rodriguez was taken into custody without further incident and was then transported to the Medina County Jail to face multiple charges.
