Now, according to the latest odds from Ladbrokes, Tom is set to stay Down Under.

Bookmakers responded by setting the odds for the Olympian to appear in the next season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! at just 3/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “We would be stunned if I’m A Celeb bosses don’t secure Tom Daley later this year… the odds suggest he could well end up in the jungle.”

Tom would be in good company after it was revealed that GK Barry is currently in talks to appear on I’m a Celebrity, which she believes would be better for her career in the long run.

It appears to be his last Olympic medal after he confirmed his retirement live on the BBC with a tearful farewell.

Fighting back tears, Daley told the BBC from St Pancras Station: “It’s hard to talk about it.”

The British team legend, who made her Olympic debut in 2008 at the age of just 14, composed herself before explaining her decision.

Daley said: “At some point I have to hang it up. I’m very proud.”

The diver is a five-time Olympic medalist and has won gold and three bronze medals in Tokyo 2021 during his career.

In Paris he won silver ahead of his husband, the American film producer Dustin Lance Black, and their two sons.

After his emotional withdrawal, the loving father will now concentrate on his family.

He added: “I want to be with my family. I’m really looking forward to spending some time with them and feeling normal for a few days.”

“It’s just overwhelming. I didn’t want it to end like this, but I’m just very proud of my career.”

Tom entered the Olympic stage as a young teenager and became one of the figureheads of the British team.

He was flag bearer at the Paris Games, where he became the first British diver to compete in five Olympic Games.

He said: “I’m really happy with how everything went.

“It’s always hard to say goodbye to your sport, you have to process a lot of things, but I think it’s the right time. This year felt like a bonus and I got to compete in front of my family and my children, I got to be the flag bearer.

“I’ve ticked off my bucket list every time. I think my kids are very proud of me.”

“I’m happy, but it’s hard to speak when you’ve loved something so much. The support I’ve had from the UK has been so incredible.”

“It’s the end of an era, but I can look back on my 23 years and be very proud.”
