Hull and Castleford meet in Westerman’s farewell match

Club News

Hull FC will face Castleford Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle in February 2025 as both clubs celebrate the farewell of Joe Westerman.

The game is part of both teams’ pre-season preparations for the 2025 season, but also provides an opportunity for the two clubs Westerman played for to come together and celebrate his career spanning nearly two decades.

Hull travel to West Yorkshire to face the Tigers at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Saturday 1 February (kick-off 3pm).

The 34-year-old began his professional rugby league career with Castleford in 2007. He then moved from West Yorkshire to East Yorkshire in 2011 and stayed with the Black & Whites until the end of the 2015 season. During this time he made over 100 appearances for the FC.

During his time at the MKM Stadium, Westerman played two international matches, one for England and one for the England Knights.

He then played for Warrington Wolves and Toronto Wolfpack before returning to Hull FC for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

And after a two-year stint with Wakefield, Westerman returned to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle to join the Tigers for a second time, making over 400 appearances during his career.

All further details regarding the pre-season testimonial match will be confirmed at a later date.
