MONCKS CORNER, SC. – (Monday, August 12, 2024) – Berkeley County Emergency Operations Center returned to normal operations, OPCON Level 3, to 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, August 12, 2024.

Berkeley County crews continue to assess damage from Debby. They will be surveying damage and going door-to-door to assess the extent of the storm’s impact.

Residents and businesses that have suffered damage due to storms are asked to report it online HERE or via the citizen hotline at. 843-719-4800 and leave a detailed message. The Citizen Call Line is for non-urgent calls only and callers will hear an automated answer. For all emergency calls, please dial 911.

Storm damage reporting helps Berkeley County staff assess the extent of damage in the county and report the findings to state and federal agencies. These reports determine appropriate state and federal funding for damage caused by the storm.

The Alligator Road and Shulerville convenience center locations have reopened.

Although Debby has left our area, hurricane season is not over yet. The season runs through November 30th. Berkeley County recommends that the public not discard sandbags that have not been exposed to floodwaters. Such sandbags can be reused if stored safely in a dry location. If you must dispose of sandbags, please remember to recycle them and dispose of them properly. To do so, sprinkle the sand on your lawn or flowerbeds and recycle the bag or throw it in the trash.
