Bateman returns, Hamilton “good”

Bateman returns, Hamilton “good”

OWINGS MILLS, Maryland – It appears the Ravens have avoided a serious injury to one of their best players.

Head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Kyle Hamilton has a sprained knee and that the All-Pro safety is “doing well.” Hamilton was injured during practice on Sunday.

Before the start of the session on Monday, he did some solo exercises on the field.

While the Ravens wait to get Hamilton back, there have been encouraging developments with some of his teammates.

Rashod Bateman changed clothes. The receiver participated in his first practice in a week. He missed three full practices after being injured on a touchdown catch last Monday.

“He’s going to be OK. He’s going to be OK. He’s going to be OK,” Harbaugh said. “He tries to get out there as much as he can.”

Bateman completed individual training on Monday. He left practice shortly after team drills began.

On the other side of the ball, TJ Tampa made his training camp debut. The rookie cornerback was sidelined with sports hernia surgery. Rejoining his teammates for the first time this late in training camp presents quite a challenge to get to where he needs to be for a preseason game. But that’s something Harbaugh would welcome for the fourth-round pick.

“It’s just going to depend on his recovery – he had bilateral hernia surgery. So I think he’s got a good chance. We’ll just have to wait and see how it goes in the next week or so,” Harbaugh said.

Rookie cornerback Nate Wiggins missed practice on Monday. He has been out since spraining his shoulder in Friday’s season opener.
