Sam McKinney and Devin Strader have hated each other since the beginning of season 21 of The Bachelorette. Devin’s loud and fun personality rubs Sam the wrong way, and Sam gets upset when Devin takes Jenn Tran aside on group dates. Devin doesn’t like Sam either, as he doesn’t think Sam is a good fit with Jenn. Recently, Devin spoke about the Bachelor Happy Hour Podcast about the conflict between him and Sam.
During the podcast, Devin said he may have “upset a few of his buddies, like (Aaron Erb) and (Thomas Nguyen),” which fueled the hate early on.
“I think he thought maybe I was being deceitful because of my behavior, like, ‘That can’t be him, he has to be someone else,'” Devin continued. “…I think the reason Sam doesn’t like me is because he’s probably met someone like me in real life that he doesn’t like, and he associates me with that person. And no matter what I say or do, it’s always going to have that effect on him.”
Devin noted that he “embarrassed himself just as much” in front of the men as he did in front of Jenn, which proved his authenticity. “I make people laugh and I’m very accommodating and comforting when it comes to people, so I didn’t know,” he added. “But in my head, I was like, ‘OK, this isn’t going to change. So if it’s not going to change, I might as well have a little fun with it.'”

Sam says this all the time when referring to Jenn Tran. His friend and fellow competitor Thomas Nguyen has also picked up the saying. It makes sense that Devin would make fun of these men since they hated him the most.
Austin posted a TikTok of himself wearing the sweatshirt, with a voiceover from Sam saying, “The most important thing remains the most important thing.”
Jenn Tran called the men in her season “hateful” and “aggressive”
Jenn Tran didn’t see all the drama that unfolded in The Bachelorette Season 21, especially regarding Devin Strader and Sam McKinney. However, she sees it in retrospect. She talked about The Viall files Podcast about how the men were “bitchier” and “more aggressive” than expected.
“To be honest, I didn’t realize how bitchy they were,” Jenn said. “I had no idea there were those scenes. At the cocktail party, I didn’t realize they were so aggressive, screaming and fighting. I had no idea, and that makes me angry. I just wanted to listen. I wanted to be a fly on the wall. But yeah, I’m surprised at how passionate they all were.”
