Bengals training camp recap and highlights from Monday

The Cincinnati Bengals were back on the practice field on Monday. After their first game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they now have their sights set on the second week of preparation against the Chicago Bears.

Head coach Zac Taylor spoke to the media before practice and gave an unfortunate update on rookie offensive tackle Amarius Mims. Taylor announced that Mims suffered a strained pectoral muscle and will be out for “several weeks.”

Taylor did not rule out Mims playing in Week 1, but explained that Trent Brown will begin practicing this week. If Brown plays as projected, he could earn the starting spot for Sept. 8.

Mims was still out there with the team, training.

For anyone wondering where Zack Moss was on Saturday night, he seemed ill. On Monday he was back on the training ground with the first team.

Trent Brown made his first appearance in practice on Monday, with Brown showing his veteran presence as he was pressured by Myles Murphy.

Here Joseph Ossai is better than Brown, he storms past him into the backfield.

Veteran safety Vonn Bell shows why the Bengals wanted to bring him back when he hit the free agent market, making a great dive after a pass from Joe Burrow to force an incomplete pass.

A strong day for the defense as Germaine Pratt intercepts a screen pass from Burrow.

After a strong performance in his first preseason game, rookie center Matt Lee was used several times on offense with the second team.

Geno Stone made his first interception of camp in a game that involved a miscommunication between Andrei Iosivas and Burrow.

After playing most of the first half last weekend, Dax Hill was the first-team cornerback on Monday.

Fourth-round rookie Erick All continues to perform well as a tight end after recovering from a torn ACL that forced him to miss all offseason workouts and the start of training camp.

After practice, Mims talked about his injury and his mental state and asked if he is now working on getting back to full health.

The Bengals will be back on the practice field on Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. ET.
